Hello everyone,

In the summer of 2006, we hosted workshops with Andrea Uchitel, a close-embrace tango instructor from Buenos Aires. The format was an in-depth, two-week intensive which reflected her early training with Susana Miller and a highlight of which was the close examination of Carlos Gavito’s technique for women. She is one of a new generation who’ve grown up learning first-hand from dancing with the veteran masters of the milongas, and who, crucially, have also developed an effective pedagogy for imparting what they have learned. A gifted teacher, Andrea went far beyond the mere mechanics of steps and shed light for us on the musicality, the poetry, the vary essence of the social culture of the milongueros. Those who participated still talk about what a difference the experience made for their dancing, and we’ve been gratified to see how it has continued to inspire them.

Andrea has just finished her PhD and is ready, once again, to focussed her energies on teaching tango. If you’re travelling to Buenos Aires and seeking lessons, we highly recommend that you look her up. A pdf flyer is attached.

I wanted to let you know that I finally ended my PhD and I am staying in BA, focusing on tango dancing and teaching. Always attached to the idea of the dancing as a comfortable musical meeting between a man and a woman. I try to communicate some of the milonguero fundamentals to build up an intense and personal dance. I work on private and small groups lessons in a beautiful studio. I attach to this email a flyer I wander you could forward to my old vancouver students and other dancers interested in milonguero.
A warm embrace,

Andrea
